The Olympic Energy Network (OEN) facilitates solar energy education, system development, and system installations on the Olympic Peninsula. The network connects residents and prospective solar energy system owners with contracting professionals.

Solar Energy Enthusiasts: Look for updates to this site that will help you develop and install systems.  Olympic Energy Systems (an independent renewable energy consulting firm) can develop your solar energy system and present you with a selection of qualified contractors for installation.  Note that any electrical contractor can install solar energy systems.  OEN ensures that electrical contractors have the training, and the assistance from Olympic Energy Systems, to properly and economically install systems.

Electrical Contractors: You are eligible for no-cost participation in the network with a valid contractor license and documented training in the installation of Photovoltaic Systems.  Let OEN encourage and direct you to training in the area.  Recent training was available April 22 and April 29, 2006 in Mount Vernon.  Stay tuned for new training announcements.  See www.nwejatc.org for details.  The member contractors are not listed on the OEN website, in order to assure anonymity.  Contractors are free to list their OEN membership on their own.

This site will host member (contractor) e-mails to facilitate release of Bid Requests containing the System Specifications and Architecture on which to base bids for installation.  ALL members have an opportunity to review and bid on projects.  In this way, the entire contracting community grows in the direction of solar energy.

For those interested in the formal process of developing Solar PV systems, review A GUIDE TO PHOTOVOLTAIC (PV) SYSTEM DESIGN AND INSTALLATION.

A simple project checklist is also available for review.
